50 Years of Keeping Australia Moving

Since 1976, STM Trucks & Machinery has grown from a single Western Sydney workshop into one of NSW's most trusted heavy equipment dealers. Four locations, 10+ brands, and a team that still picks up the phone.

  • Founded as Tri-City Trucks

The Gerace and Papallo families open a single-yard International Harvester dealership on the Hume Highway (now Camden Valley Way) in Western Sydney, offering truck sales, service, parts and used vehicles.

  • Mitsubishi Trucks joins the lineup

The dealership takes on Mitsubishi Trucks (later Fuso), beginning a brand partnership that continues to this day.

  • Purpose-built Narellan premises

Having outgrown the original site, the business builds and moves into a new facility on 4 to 5 acres at 335 Camden Valley Way, Narellan, servicing major accounts including RailCorp and the RTA.

  • Smeaton Grange and a new name

The business moves to a purpose-built eight-acre headquarters at Smeaton Grange (purchased in 2004) and rebrands as Sydney Trucks & Machinery. The site features an indoor showroom, parts warehouse, around 32 service bays, two drive-through B-double pits and a 30-metre weighbridge.

  • First step into earthmoving

STM becomes an authorised Kobelco excavator dealer, expanding beyond trucks and changing the direction of the business.

  • ASV Posi-Track

STM is appointed an authorised ASV dealer, adding purpose-built compact track loaders to the range.

  • Merlo telehandlers

Italian-engineered Merlo telehandlers join the machinery lineup.

  • Site dumpers and access equipment

STM becomes an authorised dealer for D'Avino site dumpers (2020), then CNF mini dumpers and XCMG access equipment (2021).

  • Sydney Trucks & Machinery becomes STM

With branches now beyond Sydney, "Sydney" is dropped from the name. The same year, STM acquires local Kobelco dealer Siteworx, which becomes the South Coast branch at Unanderra.

  • Hydrema and Daimler Trucks South Coast

Hydrema site dumpers join the range, and STM opens the purpose-built 16,500 sqm Daimler Trucks South Coast facility at Kembla Grange, adding Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner alongside Fuso.

  • 50 years of keeping Australia moving

Half a century on from that first yard, STM celebrates its 50th anniversary as a multi-site, multi-brand operation with a team of over 120, still family owned and operated. The same year, New Holland Construction compact track loaders and skid steers join the lineup.
